About Us

Stand Up for Santa Clara is a grassroots nonprofit organization dedicated to making city government more responsive, transparent and accountable to Mission City residents.

Our work began more than a decade ago, when residents organized to oppose the San Francisco 49ers’ attempt to take over the Santa Clara Youth Soccer Park. That effort showed what can happen when residents have accurate information, speak clearly and stand together.

Today, our focus has expanded to major decisions affecting Santa Clara’s future. We examine the growing cost of city government, including the salaries and compensation of top city employees. We are raising questions about proposals to move City Hall without meaningful public input. We are also tracking whether promised projects are producing real progress for residents.

Major events at Levi’s Stadium require the same scrutiny. We monitor the public costs, revenues and reimbursements connected to the Super Bowl, World Cup and other large events to determine whether Santa Clara taxpayers are being protected.

We believe good government begins with honesty and transparency. Residents should not have to rely on political talking points, incomplete reports or decisions made behind closed doors.
